The Maha experience of The Maha Mandi 2014!!

The MAHA experience of the MAHA MANDI 2014!

Being involved in Maha Mandi right from the beginning of the its 2014 journey, helped me understand the amount of perseverance required to organize such a big event.
Pre Mandi :  As part of MahaMandi volunteer committee, my first interaction during the time of sponsorship was with the Apollo Tyres Limited. We explained the director our fest, the socio-educational purpose. Each question thrown by him was tackled in the right approach by the MiG seniors.  I learnt an important lesson at the end of this- The customer is the boss!
The BIG Day : With a team of 7 and inventory worth 4500, we were initially apprehensive of the kind of public we would meet on the road.  In a bus jam packed with students wearing MahaMandi shirts and caps, off we went to our destination ANDHERI.

The joy of your first sell :

We came across our first customer, a bunch of lovely ladies waiting for the downpour to lessen. They listened to us very intently and agreed to buy our first good for the day,  Jodo Block . Every person has a story to tell . . . Their story : A self passed out MBA eager to help other MBA grads and off shopping for the festival – Rakshabandhan.
We realized we needed to meet more people.  On our way to BAND STAND we met an elderly man waiting for his relative at the station.

Sell 2: Elderly man

Overjoyed to meet a bunch of young enthusiasts and eager to help us, we sold this man the Number Balance.
Cramped in a taxi with 4 of my friends we headed to BAND STAND.

Sell 3 : The man in the CAR!

With the scorching sun on our face, but determined to do better, we sold two goods to this man. With 200 in his wallet, he pulled out the remaining 300 that he had kept in his ‘reserve’ section of the wallet!
We sat for a small break, when two street kids approached us looking at the colorful goods in our hands.  It is then that you realize how your small contribution helps the ones less privileged. A smile on their faces when we gave them a pencil and some food pumped us up.

Sell 4 : Evening joggers!
We ran into a couple of joggers who bought the Tangram.

Sell  5 : Corporate trainer

A trainer in a corporate company, the man in grey found the educational toys very interesting. He vouched to tell the story of MahaMandi in his company. That’s how you reach the masses!

Few suggestions for the next MahaMandi

1.       The educational toys could have been a little more innovative and were slightly overpriced.
It is innovation alone that drives MahaMandi.

To sum up, an enriching experience. One of a kind! Jai Ho MahaMandi.
